Andres Sanchez

Cellist Andres Sanchez-Linares, born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, began studying cello at age eight with Miguel Rojas, former principal cellist of the Puerto Rico Symphony, and continued with Jesús Morales of the Dalí Quartet. He made early solo debuts with the Ocean City Pops and at Chicago’s Midwest Clinic, followed by a Carnegie Hall debut at age 13 with the ArCoNet Chamber Orchestra. At 16, he entered the Curtis Institute of Music, studying with Peter Wiley and Carter Brey, and later earned his graduate degree from the New England Conservatory, where he studied with Paul Katz.

Andres has participated in numerous major competitions, including the ARD International Competition, Naumburg Competition, Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, M-Prize, Hudson Valley, Greenfield, Carlos Prieto, Schoenfeld, and Sphinx Competitions. As a member of the AYA Trio, he won first prize at the WDAV Competition and joint first prize at the Yellow Springs Competition.

He has appeared as soloist with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Longwood Symphony, Kennett Symphony, Central Jersey Symphony, Summit Symphony, Pennsylvania Sinfonia, and Gabrieli Ensemble. With the AYA Trio, he has performed across the country, including at Merkin Hall, Brevard Music Center, and Chamber Music Tulsa.
